Description:

This course is designed for students wishing to work a ski season as a Chalet Host but also meet the Residential Section of the Duke of Edinburgh (gold) award and, of course, is extremely useful for those heading off to university and looking to fend for themselves!

Foodworks Cookery School offers a two tier tuition system for those interested in working in a ski resort.  Our courses cover a diverse range of topics from kitchen safety, meal planning, budgeting and housekeeping for the dishes that hungry skiers (and students!) expect, including those for children, vegetarian and anyone with special dietary requirements.

For those with no experience in the kitchen we recommend the two-week course to ensure you are full confident and have a diverse range of recipes at your fingertips.  Our one-week course is aimed at basic cooks who are looking to adapt their skills to a chalet kitchen (or those attending for  Duke of Edinburgh or  Uni-Survival).

After completing your course you are provided with a Foodworks Cookery School certificate.  We then take time to discuss CV tips, interview advice and your reference from our Head Chef.  You will also be provided with a Foodworks Cookery School recipe book and manual which includes a menu planner.

During your course there will be visits from representatives from ski companies who will chat to you about the role of a chalet host and offer top tips on finding the best jobs.

This course will give you the confidence, and a wider knowledge of cooking, plus inspiring you to cook delicious seasonal food for either student dinner parties or family and friends or indeed the knowledge and skills to cook at altitude.

We will cover menu planning, healthy eating options, shopping for the right food, storing food, food hygiene and cooking with confidence that will allow you to earn money with this skill.

Our chef Dean has created a fantastic array of recipes for students to learn and recreate…starting with filleting chicken and fish, to creating soups, curries and garnishes…learning the art of quick breadmaking and desserts plus developing your own recipes.

Please call on 01242 870 538 to reserve a place.
